Pony morning/ days are now taking place Mondays , Tuesdays and Saturdays through holidays then every Saturday again as usual.

Thursday 27th Gymkhana day 10am till 4pm with rosettes to win

we are not taking on any complete beginner/lead rein riders on these sessions for the time being.

Update 04/07/2020

From Monday we will begin offering lead rein lessons for riders aged 6 years and over. For these we will only be able to private lessons or hacks 1-2 riders due to restrictions in place for group sizes.

Riders will need to be led by adults from their own household/ social bubble and therefore those nominated to lead must be fit and able to do so.

For the time being the minimum age will remain at 6 years of age due to the added support younger riders need, but this will be kept updated on the page.

Pony Mornings/Days and adult mornings are still postponed for the time being but again this will be kept updated as it changes.

we remain closed on a Friday for the time being.

Update 08/06/2020

Due to an update of government advice we can now offer group lessons or hacks for up to 5 people from different households as long as social distancing is adhered too.

We will now be offering group slots daily (apart from Fridays and Sundays) as well as private lessons, subject to availability.

Riders must be able to mount and adjust their own stirrups and girth and be competent off lead rein.

Due to social distancing we are still unable to restart lead rein sessions or the pony/adult morning or days at current but will keep this updated

To book please call the office on 01691 830608 to catch up with your horsey pals!

Penycoed are pleased to announce we are reopening from to welcome clients back from 10am Tuesday 18th May, We will be open every day apart from Friday and Sunday

We are afraid this will be on a limited basis to begin with but we can now take bookings for lessons in a phased and restricted way that conforms with national guidelines, to protect everyone on site.

The following risk assessed approach and criteria will be strictly followed…

  • All customers must pre-book lessons or hacks by phone before arriving. All lessons & hacks must be paid for when booking by card. Future bookings can also be paid on site by card when you attend, preferably contactless.

  • We will only take bookings from clients who are fit and well, please do not come to the centre is you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 no matter how mild.

  • Presently we can only offer private lessons, private hacks and for members of the same household semi-private lessons and hacks. We can NOT offer group lessons, pony mornings, pony days until it is safe to do so.

  • We can only accept bookings from competent riders who can check their own girths/stirrups and mount independently for their lesson/hack. (parents can assist a child in this as long as they are competent and confident off lead rein.)

  • For the time being we will NOT be accepting lead rein lessons or children under 6 years of age (this will be reviewed regularly and the page kept updated of any changes.)

  • Staff will wash/disinfect tack before they return horses to their stables at end of each lesson/hack.

  • Should you need to cancel between booking a lesson and the lesson day we will accept cancellations with no fee providing we have a minimum of 24 hours notice.

  • All riders should wear their own hats/clean gloves and must make use of our sanitising facilities upon arrival. Any equipment borrowed is to be left on the benches outside reception after your ride to be disinfected.

  • Only one spectator per lesson will be permitted.

  • Clients are asked not to arrive at the stables more than 10 minutes before their lesson time, and after booking in, to wait at the sign by the yard entrance to be called by the instructor to one of the schools or to the hack mounting area. Your horse will be waiting for you at a tie up point in one of these areas.

  • Whilst in reception as in line with government advice as it is an enclosed space please wear a face covering of some sort. One client is permitted in reception at any one time with markers for queuing outside, there is now a one way system in place at reception which we ask you to follow.

  • Access onto the yard itself is for staff only at this moment in time. Public are not permitted to enter any of the tie up areas or stalls.

  • After your lesson you will be asked to clip your horse to the tie up point and then required to leave the site to reduce numbers at the centre at any one time.

  • All lessons/hacks will be strictly risk assessed and kept within rider’s competence, we will not be offering jump lessons or lunge lessons at this time. To start with, we will not be offering lead rein lessons and when we do, parents will be required to lead, with guidance given.

We hope customers understand that we will be extremely cautious as it is critical to conform to government guidelines, to do our utmost to prevent the spread of Covid -19.

We will do our best to fit everyone in, so please be patient and only call if you fall in the category as stated above. Your payments have been recorded for any prepaid lessons/hacks.

Thank you for your patience
